FAQs
What is X-voter.com?
X-voter is an e-toolkit for concerned citizens. Its
three main functions are to:
- Help its members educate themselves on the principle issues
that effect their lives through factual analysis and links to other informative
websites,
- Provide a means for each member to form his or her own opinion on each
issue through the exchange of ideas with other members,
and
- Communicate the opinions of its members in a timely and
efficient manner directly to their respective elected representatives.
X-voter is not a political party or group, an association,
lobbying or special interest group, a political action committee (“PAC”),
or similar organization.
What is the political viewpoint of X-voter?
X-voter itself has no political agenda. To the extent reflected by the
results of its referendum polls, the political viewpoint of X-voter is the
collective viewpoint of its members. Its members are from all points
on the political spectrum. X-voter members have two common links:
- They want to be better informed voters with clear, relevant viewpoints
on the issues of the day, and
- They want to communicate their viewpoints on these issues to their elected
representatives so they can hold them accountable for their actions.
X-voter strives to be a real no spin zone. It is not a
Democratic, Republican, liberal, conservative, libertarian or even moderate
organization. It will choose links to websites that may reflect
the viewpoints of all relevant groups, in an effort to present its members
with a broad spectrum of ideas.
Where does X-voter get its funding?
X-voter is strictly funded by its members. It takes no contributions
from, or sells advertisement to, political parties, companies, associations,
or other groups.
X-voter.com may “trade” advertisement with certain
media or other relevant companies if, in the opinion of X-voter
management, it significantly increases the exposure of X-voter to potential
members and it does not detract from the website’s function. Such
advertisement will not be in the form of “pop-ups” or means
that interfere with the efficient flow of the web site for its users.
Also, at a later date when X-voter has a critical mass of members, it may
work with certain companies to offer its members discounts through affinity
programs.
Who can become a member of X-voter?
Any United States citizen can become a member of X-voter if that person is:
- Eligible to vote (i.e., is over 18 years of age, has a residence address,
and is not a convicted felon - unless sentence, probation or parole is completed
- or has not been declared mentally incompetent by a court of law), and
- Has a credit card (this is not only a means of payment, but a means of
confirmation of identification).
What does membership cost and what services does a member receive?
An X-voter membership costs $24.95 per year, plus any applicable state sales
tax.
While anyone can view all public information on X-voter, only members can:
- Vote on current Referendum issues, and have the results of their voting
mailed to their elected representatives.
- Choose future Referendum issues,
- Respond to posted Weblog articles, or
- Participate in the Forum discussions between members.
The range of services provided in the future to X-voter members will depend
on the services that are demanded by the members, which may either change the
annual membership cost or additional services may be priced separately, or
both.
The use of the X-voter.com website by any viewor or its members is subject
to the Terms of Use.
How does an X-voter Referendum poll work?
Each month, X-voter will poll its members on the top ten issues, or specific
pending legislative acts, that are facing our elected representatives. Each
member chooses from a broad spectrum of alternatives (i.e., not just “for” or “against”)
on each issue, and may write in their own viewpoint on that issue. The
results are then tabulated by State and Congressional district and mailed to
every U.S. Senator and Congressmen, the Office of the President of the United
States. All X-voter members will then be informed by e-mail of the date
that the referendum mailing will be received by those government officials,
so they may follow up individually with their own elected representatives.
How private is the personal information submitted by X-voter members?
All personal information and individual voting records on referendum issues
of X-voter members remain confidential and under the control of X-voter.com,
Inc. X-voter does not sell, trade or give personal information
about its members to any third party, unless required by law
or court order.
